One answer, every rule

Every midnight, at a glance.

Today shows how many days you have spent where you are and, for each rule you follow, days used, days left, the latest date you can leave and the date your allowance comes back. On iPhone and iPad.

Midnightly on iPad: the Today screen shows 62 days in Portugal this year, then rule cards. UK Statutory Residence Test: 79 used of 183, 104 left, depends on your answers. Schengen 90/180: 71 used of 90, 19 left, latest safe exit 6 November 2026. US Substantial Presence Test: 37 used, safe.
Midnightly on iPhone: the same Today screen, with 62 days in Portugal this year and a Schengen 90/180 watch showing 19 days left before the limit.

Can I…?

Plan the trip before you book it.

Add a trip and see, before you go, whether it keeps you inside every rule, with the count before and after for each one.

  • Every affected rule at once. UK, US, Schengen and country rules in one answer, with the last safe day.
  • Honest about what it can’t know. Where a result depends on facts like UK ties, it says “Depends on your answers” instead of guessing.
  • Plans stay plans. Planned trips are never added to your record.

Evidence you can hand over

A record your adviser can check.

Attach boarding passes and receipts to days and trips, then export a CSV, free, or a signed PDF evidence pack with Pro. Your adviser can verify the pack in their browser, offline, with no account or upload.

What a signature proves: that the record wasn’t altered after it was generated. It doesn’t prove where you were.

Midnightly Export screen: choose a period such as last 12 months or a UK tax year, then export an evidence ledger as CSV or prepare a PDF evidence report. A note says 3 days in this period have no data and are listed as No data.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is this tax advice?

No. Midnightly helps you understand your travel days and the rules; it is not tax or legal advice. For decisions, export your evidence pack and confirm with a qualified adviser.

Where is my data?

Your data stays on your device. There is no account, and nothing leaves unless you choose to export it.

How accurate are the counts?

The rules engine is tested against 58 official worked examples from HMRC, the IRS and the EU, and every count shows its working. Where a result depends on facts the phone can't know, such as UK ties, it says “Depends on your answers” rather than guessing.

Which countries and rules are covered?

The UK Statutory Residence Test, the US Substantial Presence Test, Schengen 90/180, US state day counts and 183-day rules, plus custom rules you define.

Does it work for my family?

Yes. Household links the people who travel together, each with their own rules and per-person visibility, and produces one adviser-ready pack.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Counting, the AI assistant and the evidence verifier all run on the device or in the browser, with no connection needed.

What's free?

Tracking, every rule’s counts, the calendar, timeline and map, CSV export, Insights, the on-device AI assistant, Passport Control and basic widgets are free forever.

How does verification work?

Each evidence pack is signed on your device. Anyone can paste its QR code into the verifier to confirm it wasn’t altered after it was generated. It doesn’t prove where you were; it proves the record is unchanged.
